Bracing for a Busy Hurricane Season:: Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30. Federal forecasters predict this year's hurricane activity could be well above normal. For 2008, the outlook indicates a 60 to 70 percent chance of 12 to 16 named storms, including six to nine hurricanes and two to five major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5 on the Saffir-Simpson Scale).

Summertime Pool and Spa Safety: Drowning deaths involving children under the age of five have been on the rise in the past few years and the most disturbing statistical evidence shows that 70 percent these young victims drowned while in the care of both parents. Of all the drownings in this group, 81 percent occurred at home and 19 percent at public pools that had lifeguards on duty. Click here.
